FSSAI - FIFA Fellowship Frequently Asked Questions on Food Analyst Examination and Junior Analyst Examination 



1.      What is Food Analyst Examination?
Ans: Food Analyst Examination is qualifying examination conducted annually by a Board constituted by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

2.      What is the Educational Qualification for Food Analyst Examination?
Ans: Master degree in Chemical and Biological Sciences, B.Tech in Food, Dairy and Oil Technology, Bacheelors Degree in Veterinary Sciences etc., from university established in India by law.

3.      What is the eligibility criteria for Food Analyst Examination?
Ans: Three years of experience in food analysis in laboratory or research institute

4.      What is the age limit to appear for Food Analyst Examination?
Ans: No age limit

5.      Is Food Analyst Examination a competitive examination for entry into government jobs?
Ans: No, Qualifying Food Analyst Examination will not guarantee you a job either in government or private organization.

It is a qualifying exam for the in-service candidates to sign the analytical report of food products of FSSAI notified Food testing laboratory for legal purposes.

6.      Is there any limit in terms of number candidates passing per year?
Ans: No limit, Candidates clearing Food Analyst Examination Paper I and Paper II (aggregate 40%) will be allowed to attend the Paper III at authorized research centers and candidates scoring 50% or more in paper III will be declared qualified to be appointed as Food Analyst.

7.      Is there any provision for reappearing for unqualified papers of Food Analyst Examination?
Ans: Candidates of Food Analyst Examination can appear for unqualified papers in the next food analyst examination.

8.      Is there any certificate of qualification?
Ans: Yes. Food Analyst Certificate will be issued by FSSAI within a month of qualifying  examination.

9.      Who will notify Food Analyst?
Ans: Central (CEO, FSSAI ) and State Food Authority (Commission of Food Safety) can notify the Food Analyst having the requisite qualification as per Sec 45 of FSSA, 2006.

10.  Duties and responsibilities of Food Analyst
Ans: Receiving and Analysis (cause to be analyze) of the Food Samples sent by Food Safety Officers or any other person and Reporting within 14 days from the date of receipt of samples to Designated officer concerned.

11.  What is Junior Analyst Examination?
Ans: The FSSAI has introduced Junior Analyst examination for the first time in 2017.
Junior Analyst Examination is also a qualifying examination meant for Masters Degree Holders in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Food and Nutrition, B. Tech in Food, Dairy and Oil Technology, B.V.Sc.


No previous experience required.
 
Will be allowed to appear for Paper I and Paper II only. Candidates qualifying I and II will be given certificate of junior analyst by FSSAI.
 
There is an age limit for Junior Analyst Examination Max 32 years on date of Announcement of Junior Analyst examination.
 
Only one chance will be given for the qualified Junior analyst to appear for the Paper III after acquiring requisite experience in Food Analysis (Min 3 years)


12.  Is there Job Guarantee for Junior Analyst examination?
Ans: Junior Analyst Examination is also a qualifying examination and will not guarantee you a job either in government or private sector. However Junior Analyst Examination qualified candidates can approach FSSAI notified Government Food Testing Laboratories and can apply for FIFA fellowship - you will monthly remuneration as a Trainee.
